Shortcuts to Disaster
Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. Prov 21:5 NLV
Good day and blessings to you. There is no shortcut to success. Whether it is secular work or ministry, good planning combined with hard work (diligence) will reap reward/prosperity.
I remember when I worked for several years as a retail store manager for a fitness/nutrition supply company in the greater Toronto area. I had started out at 52 years of age at the lowest rate of pay as a full-time salesman.
I received the lowest base rate plus commission for every sale. At the end of my 3 month probationary period, I received the only perfect grading that any salesperson in the company ever attained.
At the end of 7 months, I was promoted to a management position of the least successful store. By the time I moved back to the Fort Erie area and regretfully had to leave the company, I had improved the first store I managed to become the flagship example of retail perfection for all other stores and was subsequently sent to two other stores to train more staff and raise the standard.
During my last month working at this particular company, I broke every sales record ever set by any salesperson or manager and my store had set the new total sales record.
When I was asked over and over again what my secret was, I told everyone it was because I walked under a blessing from God. At first people would laugh as though I was kidding, but as my success and reputation grew people began to stop laughing and I was able to minister to many people who otherwise may not have been willing to listen.
I told people that there were often days when I would come into work very concerned that I would not be able to accomplish what was expected of me. At those times I would get alone with God and tell Him the truth of how I felt and would ask for direction, courage, strength and diligence to do so well that He alone would have to get the glory because it would be beyond anything I myself could accomplish.
Prayer was not enough. Hard work was not enough. Planning was not enough. All three had to be applied and all had to be done to bring glory to God. All had to come from a state of humility that admits you need to learn from others more experienced than yourself and that no good thing can be attained without the intervention of God Himself.
This was the secret to my success. This is a formula for success in all things. Hasty shortcuts may get you over a few hurdles and at first appear to be successful but will eventually fail and make you a public joke. Good planning and hard work under the guidance of the hand of God bring success.
Always remember that God truly loves you and has a plan for your life. You need to get in touch with the Master planner to find success.
May the Grace of The Lord Jesus Christ be with you now and always. Amen and amen.
Love in Christ Jesus, Papa Max.
